(Nixon's Spirit), "Concept: A performer's identity is consumed by a grinning political phantomâa psychedelic unraveling of self through the lens of power's haunting.
A leather-clad singer commands a stage that shouldn't exist, his performance interrupted by a red-smiled presence that rises from the architecture of authority. As the track builds, identity dissolvesâleather becomes latex, voice becomes signal, flesh becomes broadcast. The video tracks one man's transformation from performer to vessel, his spirit overwritten by something that has always been smiling behind the face of power.
SCENE 1: THE LAST AUTHENTIC NOTE
- Location: Circular stage in a brutalist concrete bunker, harsh white stage lights forming a wall behind the performer
- Action: Wide locked shotâthe singer in black leather grips the microphone, head thrown back, lost in vocal delivery. The stage lights create a corona silhouette. His shadow stretches wrong directions across the concrete. The lights begin pulsing at frequencies that don't match the beat.
- Visual key: Isolation of performanceâthe figure appears powerful but the environment is already colonized
SCENE 2: RED GRIN RISING
- Location: Backstage corridor lined with peeling propaganda posters, fluorescent tubes buzzing
- Action: Medium dolly pushâa figure in red latex mask steps from shadow into sickly light, smile frozen and painted. The dolly advances as the masked face fills frame. Through the mask's eye holes, we glimpse the singer's own eyes looking back. The smile widens impossibly.
- Visual key: The uncanny doubleâpower wears your face before it takes your name
SCENE 3: SKIN SIGNAL
- Location: The stage, but concrete walls now ripple like disturbed water
- Action: Close-up handheldâthe singer's face fragments, pixels of skin lifting away like ash. The red grin pushes through from underneath his features. He keeps singing, unaware. Camera shakes as reality resists the overwrite. Sweat on leather catches light that doesn't exist.
- Visual key: Identity as infectionâthe mask was always beneath the surface
SCENE 4: NIXON'S EYES
- Location: Inside a spinning transmission tower, walls constructed from stacked television screens
- Action: POV orbitâwe see through the singer's eyes as he becomes the masked figure. Screens show Nixon's face in kaleidoscopic fracture, multiplying through reflections. The orbit accelerates. Red latex skin reflects a thousand collapsing presidencies. The singer's leather jacket melts into the latex surface.
- Visual key: Political power as hallucinationâhistory spiraling through the vessel
SCENE 5: BENEATH THE SMILE
- Location: Pure black void, only light emanating from the mask's cracked grin
- Action: Extreme detail surveillance cameraâmacro on the latex surface revealing it as compressed data, thousands of micro-Nixon faces forming the texture. The smile fractures, white light bleeds through the seams. Timestamp flickers: 1974, 2001, 2024, ERROR."
